Watershed Projects

Lake Ballantyne - Lake Assessment Program.  MPCA Lake Assessment Program (LAP), 1994. The project area is the Lake Ballantyne lakeshed of minor watershed 28033.

Brown-Nicollet-Cottonwood Ground Water Project Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP).
MPCA, 1990. The project area includes special assessments performed in three individual study areas within Brown, Nicollet and Cottonwood Counties. The West Study Area, located within Brown and Cottonwood Counties, involves select minor watersheds. Within the major watershed, the West Study Area includes the following minor watersheds: 28080, 28081, 28090, 28097. The Central Study Area, located within Nicollet County, involves select minor watersheds. Within the major watershed, the Central Study Area includes the following minor watersheds: 28056, 28061, 28065, 28066, 28067, 28068, 28069. The East Study Area, located within Nicollet County, included the following minor watersheds: 28038, 28060, 28061, 28062.

Brown-Nicollet-Cottonwood Ground Water Project Phase II - Implementation (CWP).  MPCA, 1993. The project area includes special assessments that occurred within two of the three original study areas from the Phase I-Diagnostic Study within Brown, Nicollet and Cottonwood Counties. The West Study Area, located within Brown and Cottonwood Counties, involves select minor watersheds. Within the major watershed, the West Study Area includes the following minor watersheds: 28080, 28081, 28090, 28097. The East Study Area, located within Nicollet County, included the following minor watersheds: 28038, 28060, 28061, 28062.

Crystal Loon Mills Lakes Restoration Project Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP).  MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project, 1994-1998. The project area includes minor watersheds 28045 and 28046.

Duck Lake - Lake Assessment Program.  MPCA Lake Assessment Program (LAP), 1988. The project area was the Duck Lake lakeshed of minor watershed 28033.

Duck Lake Water Quality Improvement Project Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP).
MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project, 1990-1994. The project area is the Duck Lake subshed of minor watershed 28033.

Duck Lake Water Quality Improvement Project, Phase II - Implementation (CWP).
MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project, 1997-1999. The project area is the Duck Lake subshed of minor watershed 28033.

Lake Crystal - Lake Assessment Program.  MPCA Lake Assessment Program (LAP), 1989. The project area was the Lake Crystal lakeshed of minor watershed 28046.

Little Cottonwood River Restoration Project Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP).
MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project, 1997-1999. The project area is the Little Cottonwood River watershed, which includes minor watersheds 28057, 28080, 28081, 28084, 28085, 28086, 28087, 28088, 28089, 28090, 28091, and 28097.

Little Cottonwood River Watershed Conservation Priority Area (EQIP Program).
NRCS, 1998. The project area is the Little Cottonwood River Watershed within Cottonwood County, including portions of minor watersheds 28080, 28081, 28090, and 28097.

Lake Washington Water Quality Improvement Project Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP).
MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project, 1993-1995. The project area included minor watersheds 28031 and 28033.

Lake Washington Water Quality Improvement Project Phase II - Implementation (CWP). MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project, 1996-1999. The project area included minor watersheds 28031 and 28033 within Blue Earth and Le Sueur Counties.

Minneopa Creek Watershed Project.  MDNR and Blue Earth County. The project area included minor watersheds 28044, 28045, 28046, 28047, 28048, 28049 and 28050.

Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Biological and Toxicological Assessment Diatom Assemblage Structure as an Indicator of Stream Habitat Condition in the Minnesota River Watershed.  MPCA, 1993. The project area included 16 minor watersheds in the Minnesota River Basin. Within this major watershed, the project area included the following minor watersheds: 28033, 28061, 28066, 28080.

Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Biological and Toxicological Assessment Analysis of Benthic Macroinvertebrate Communities in the Minnesota River Watershed.  MPCA, 1989-1992. The project area includes 41 select assessment sites. Within the major watershed, the project included minor watersheds: 28033, 28045, 28046, 28066.

Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Biological and Toxicological Assessment A Fish Community Analysis of the Minnesota River Basin.  MPCA, 1990-1992. The project area is 116 sites along the Minnesota River main stem and tributaries, and within select minor watersheds. Within the major watershed, the project included minor watersheds: 28010, 28005, 28094, 28080, 28088, 28057, 28066, 28033, 28061, 28054, 28042, 28060.

Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Land Use Assessment - Level II.
NRCS, 1993. The project area includes ten minor watersheds located within the Blue Earth, Watonwan, and Le Sueur River major watersheds. Within the major watershed, the Level II Land Use Assessment project included minor watersheds: 31015, 31058.

Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Land Use Assessment - Level III.
MPCA, 1990-1991. The Level III Land Use Assessment project area included 32 select minor watersheds. Within the major watershed, the project included minor watersheds: 28033, 28066, 28088.

Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Land Use Assessment - Level III
(Revised Methodology).  MPCA, 1991. The revised Level III Land Use Assessment project area included 5 additional minor watersheds. Within the major watershed, the project included minor watershed 28006.

Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Land Use Assessment - Level Four
(Aerial Photography Study).  MSU Water Resources Center, 1991. The Level IV Land Use Assessment project area involves ten select minor watersheds. Within the major watershed, the project included minor watershed 28033.

Water Quality Status of Six Major Creeks in Renville County.  Renville County, 1995-1997. The project area is six major creeks in Renville County. Within the major watershed, the project included minor watersheds: 28010, 28018, and 28022.

South Central Minnesota Comprehensive County Water Planning Project (SCMCCWPP) Volunteer Rain Gage Reader Network. SCMCCWPP, 1992-present. The SCMCCWPP Volunteer Rain Gage Reader Network includes thirteen counties: Blue Earth, Brown, Cottonwood, Faribault, Freeborn, Jackson, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Steele, Waseca, and Watonwan.
