Minor watershed number(s): 28031, 28033 The project area included minor watersheds 28031 and 28033 located in the Middle Minnesota River Major Watershed within Blue Earth and Le Sueur Counties. The Lake Washington Water Quality Improvement Project was a Phase II - Implementation, MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project funded from 1996 to 1999. Project sponsors are the Le Sueur and Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners with contributions from the following participants: Lake Washington Improvement Association, Camp Patterson Committee of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, Le Sueur County Extension Office, Le Sueur and Blue Earth County Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Le Sueur County Natural Resource Conservation Service, Le Sueur County Community Health Office, residents of the watershed, the Water Resources Center at Mankato State University, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and the Department of Natural Resources. The purpose of this project is to address the sources of non-point runoff, which were determined in the previous diagnostic study, through increased public awareness, education, and implementation of best management practices. This project is currently in progress. |
