MRAP Biological and Toxicological Assessment - Characterization of Sediments, Settleable Solids and Water Quality of Stormwater Runoff in the Minnesota River Watershed includes data from the the collection and analysis of various clam species. Tissue samples were collected and analyzed for heavy metal and PCB content. MRAP Biological and Toxicological Assessment - Analysis of Benthic Macroinvertebrate Communities in the Minnesota River Watershed includes data from the collection of qualitative and quantitative macroinvertebrate samples at 41 assessment sites within the Minnesota River main stem, tributaries, and selected minor watersheds. Macroinvertebrate communities data was used to calculate the following metrics: Species Richness, Diversity Index, Equitability Index, Macroinvertebrate Biotic Index (MBI), and Invertebrate Community Index (ICI). MRAP Biological and Toxicological Assessment - A Fish Community Analysis of the Minnesota River Basin includes data from fish community surveys performed at each site to determine the Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI). Scatter plots and correlation analysis were used to examine relationships between IBI and QHEI for groups of sites. |

| Data Summary | Faribault County participates in the Minnesota State Climatology Office Rain Guage Network. Freeborn County participates in the Minnesota State Climatology Office Rain Guage Network. Le Sueur River Implementation Framework, Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP) includes precipitation data from the South Central Minnesota Comprehensive County Water Planning Project (SCMCCWPP) Rain Gauge Network. Precipitation data collected during the sampling period were modeled for the watershed using Minnesota State Climatology methodology. SCMCCWPP sponsors a volunteer rain guage reader network. This volunteer rain guage reader network reports daily precipitation during the growing season (May through September) to their county Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). These data are sent to the Water Resources Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato, for entry into the Minnesota State Climatology database and for generation of contour precipitation maps. These data have been collected since 1992. |

| Data Summary | Faribault County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) monitors surface water quality. The SWCD has monitored sites since 1991. No surface water quality monitoring data available or inventoried for this minor watershed. MRAP Biological and Toxicological Assessment - Characterization of Sediments, Settleable Solids and Water Quality of Stormwater Runoff in the Minnesota River Watershed includes surface water quality and quantity data (1991) from the Physical and Chemical Assessment component of the Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP). To obtain a more complete data set, collection of additional grab samples occurred in minor watersheds 32073 and 32042 during storm events in 1992.MRAP Biological and Toxicological Assessment - Ambient Toxicity Assessment in the Minnesota River Basin includes surface water quality data from sediment pore water samples collected from 1989-1990. Analysis included the following parameters: cations, anions, ammonia-nitrogen, total phosphorus, and total organic carbon. Analysis of sediment pore water samples collected during 1992 included the following nutrients: ammonia-nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen, total phosphorus, and total nitrogen. Ambient toxicity of surface water, sediment pore water, and bulk sediment was determined by exposing various water quality indicator organisms to the samples.MRAP Physical and Chemical Assessment - Selected Water Quality and Flow Data From Minor Watersheds in the Blue Earth River Basin includes surface water quality data collected during storm events and baseline flow conditions from eight minor watershed sites using automated samplers and grab sampling techniques. Analysis includes the following parameters: total suspended solids, orthophosphorus, and total phosphorus. The Mountain Lake site (minor watershed 31058) has a relatively complete data set, with fairly continuous stage records obtained for County Ditch #60 (minor watershed 30030) and Judicial Ditch #3 (minor watershed 30056) sites. The remaining sites yielded limited stage records and water quality data in 1991.Le Sueur River Implementation Framework, Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP) includes surface water quality data collected at primary sites by USGS personnel, at secondary sites by Water Resources Center personnel, and at tertiary sites by local Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) and County Water Planners. Water quality parameters included nutrients and total suspended solids (TSS) and other physical and chemical properties. |

| Data Summary | MRAP Physical and Chemical Assessment - Selected Water Quality and Flow Data From Minor Watersheds in the Blue Earth River Basin includes data from continuous stage and flow monitoring. The data are used to create hydrographs and develop rating curves for the sampling sites. The Mountain Lake site (minor watershed 31058) has a relatively complete data set, with fairly continuous stage records obtained for County Ditch #60 (minor watershed 30030) and Judicial Ditch #3 (minor watershed 30056) sites. The remaining sites yielded limited stage records and water quality data in 1991. Le Sueur River Implementation Framework, Phase I-Diagnostic (CWP) includes surface water quantity data collected at primary and secondary sites by the USGS and tertiary sites by the Water Resources Center. Hydrographs and total discharge for the sampling period were developed for each site. |

| Data Summary | Faribault County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) maintains an inventory of permitted and non-permitted storage tanks for agricultural and industrial chemicals. The inventory includes storage tanks located above or below ground. MRAP Land Use Assessment - Level III includes data collected through personal interviews with landowner/operators about underground storage tanks. |

| Data Summary | MRAP Land Use Assessment - Level II includes data from an evaluation of the magnitude of nonpoint source pollution in these ten minor watersheds. The Minnesota Natural Resources Conservation Service completed this evaluation using computer models. The AGNPS (Agricultural Non-point Source Pollution Model) model is used to simulate sediment loading under present conditions, along with three sediment management alternatives (SED MGT- 1, SED MGT- 2, SED MGT- 3). The GLEAMS (Groundwater Loading Effects of Agricultural Management Systems) model is used in determining levels for present conditions and nutrient management alternatives (NUT MGT-1, NUT MGT-2) using the nutrient evaluations. Input data for Land cover/Land use originated from the Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) Land Use Level III. Climate records were gathered from the closest National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Cooperative Weather Station to establish a 30 year (1961-1990) annual precipitation average for each minor watershed. Evaluated minor watersheds are located within the Blue Earth, Watonwan, and Le Sueur Major Watersheds. MRAP Land Use Assessment - Level III includes data from watershed assessments completed for each minor watershed. Each assessment is composed of five steps: walking each individual watershed, conducting landowner/operator interviews, land use map development, erodible soil map development, and data base development. Le Sueur River Implementation Framework, Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP) includes data from a watershed assessment currently being completed by the Water Resources Center and the Le Sueur WILL Committee using data collected by county offices and state and federal agencies. |

| Data Summary | The Faribault County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) plans to complete a drainage and wetland inventory by 1999. The Freeborn County Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and US Fish and Wildlife Service completed an inventory of wetlands located in cropland acres. MRAP Land Use Assessment - Level III includes data from DNR designated wetlands used in the land cover/land use assessment. |
