Minnesota Department of Natural Resources-Wild and Scenic Rivers Program
The results of this resource study led the Department of Natural Resources to conclude in 1979 that the Minnesota River "possesses outstanding scenic, natural, scientific, historical and recreational characteristics" (p.4). the study report includes sections on the river's geology, watershed, landform and soils, water quality, vegetation, fish and mollusks, wildlife, recreation, archaeology, population, economy, and history.
