The results of this resource study led the Department of Natural Resources to conclude in 1979 that the Minnesota River "possesses outstanding scenic, natural, scientific, historical and recreational characteristics" (p.4). the study report includes sections on the river's geology, watershed, landform and soils, water quality, vegetation, fish and mollusks, wildlife, recreation, archaeology, population, economy, and history. Appendices include the text of the Minnesota Wild and Scenic Rivers Acts, a sample scenic easement contract, rules and regulations associated with the state wild and scenic rivers system, and a brief bibliography.
