Minor watershed number(s):   33103, 33109, 33116, 33120, 33123, 33137

Tributary sampling is performed in minor watersheds 33103, 33109, 33116, 33120, 33123, and 33137. These minor watersheds are located in the Lower Minnesota River Major Watershed.

This water quality analysis is included in the Physical and Chemical Assessment component of the Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP). The report presents findings from a 1989-1992 nonpoint source study of seven metro-area tributaries to the Minnesota River as well as results from two MCWW, 1976-1992, river monitoring stations on the Lower Minnesota River. Headed by the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission (MWCC), the nonpoint source study resulted from mutual agreements with the Metropolitan Council (MC) and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). .

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary MRAP Physical and Chemical Assessment - Water Quality Analysis of the Lower Minnesota River and Selected Tributaries included a 1989-1992 NPS Study (seven tributary and one Minnesota mainstem sites) includes surface water quality data collected through composite sampling during events and grab sampling during baseline flow conditions. Analysis includes the following parameters: carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand (CBOD5), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total phosphrus (TP), total dissolved phosphorus (TDP), ortho phosphorus (OTP), total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity (TRB), nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N), and total lead (PB).1976-1992 (two MCWW Lower Minnesosta River sites): Grab samples collected at different frequencies and analyzed for different parameters. Temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, and specific conductivity have been continuously measured and recorded since 1973.
