Lake Emily - Lake Assessment Program

Minor watershed number(s):   26008, 26009, 26010, 26011, 26012, 26013, 26020, 26097, 26098, 26101

The project area was the Lake Emily lakeshed which includes the following minor watersheds: 26008, 26009, 26010, 26011, 26012, 26013, 26020, 26097, 26098 and 26101. These minor watersheds are located in the Chippewa River Major Watershed.

The Emily Lake project was completed through the MPCA - Lake Assessment Program (LAP) in 1995. A LAP report includes general information about a lake's trophic status, factors (such as land cover/land use or point source pollution potential) affecting nutrient input to the lake, fisheries health, water quality, historical trend analysis, and watershed assessment modeling.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary Lake Emily - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes surface water quality data collected four times from three in-lake sites during the spring and summer of 1995. This also included analysis of occasional lake outlet samples collected. Sample analysis includes nutrients (total phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen), color, solids, pH, conductivity, alkalinity, turbidity, chlorophyll, and temperature. A dissolved oxygen profile was developed and secchi disk readings were also taken.

Watershed Assessment

Data Summary Lake Emily - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes data from a watershed assessment which used the Minnesota Lake Eutrophication Analysis Procedure (MINLEAP) model to assess the changes in the quality of the lake resulting from altered nutrient inputs or altered flow. This model incorporates water quality, point source pollution potential, land cover/land use, and inflow and outflow data in its assessment.
