Lac qui Parle County sponsored this project in 1993 and completed it in 1994. The objectives of this project are 1) to gather baseline data on existing water quality in Lac qui Parle Ditch #3, 2) to assess nonpoint pollution sources within the ditch watershed, and 3) to model the watershed with the Agricultural Nonpoint Source Pollution Computer model (AGNPS). The project was completed in two phases. Phase I, the Water Quality Assessment of Ditch #3, conducted monitoring at three locations along the ditch. Collection of samples occurred in the fall of 1993 and spring of 1994 and assessed for various parameters. Phase II, AGNPS Analysis of Nonpoint Source Pollution, conducted computer modeling of the watershed using various land use, runoff, precipitation, and storm event scenarios.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring
| Data Summary |
Lac qui Parle County Ditch #3 Project includes surface water quality data collected from three sites along Lac qui Parle County ditch #3. Collection of samples occurred twice during the fall of 1993 and once during the spring of 1994 after a major precipitation event. Analysis included the following parameters: Total Phosphorus, Nitrate/Nitrite-Nitrogen, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Ammonia, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Volatile Solids, and Fecal Coliform Bacteria. Additional parameters measured in the field included: Conductivity, pH, Dissolved Oxygen, and Temperature. |
