Best Management Practices (BMP) Focus Projects

Data Summary Carver County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) administers a Conservation Practice Implementation program that focuses on buffer strips and nutrient management plans in the Bevens Creek watershed. Scott County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) offers the following countywide BMP programs: Filter Strips (1995-1997), Ag Waste System Upgrade (1995-present), Land Improvement Practices (1995-present), and Land Aquisition in the Minnesota River Floodplain (1995-present). The program information is being entered into GIS.

Land Cover / Land Use

Data Summary Carver County Planning and Zoning is developing a countywide inventory land cover/land use. The Scott County Surveyor's Office inventories and updates land cover/land use information from aerial photography flown in areas of the county in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998. This information includes buildings, roads, trails, wetlands, contours, drainage ways, driveways, shorelines, swamps and wooded areas. The Scott County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) completed a countywide land cover/land use survey in 1996.
