Precipitation Monitoring

Data Summary	Faribault County participates in the State Climatology Office Rain Gage Network. Blue Earth River Basin Implementation Framework, Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP) includes precipitation data gathered by 178 readers in a High Density Rain Gauge Monitoring Network under the direction of the SCMCCWPP Technical Committee. Precipitation data from 13 county rain gage readers and outlying counties was used to model precipitation using State Climatology methodology. SCMCCWPP sponsors a volunteer rain gage reader network. This volunteer rain gage reader network reports daily precipitation during the growing season (May through September) to their county Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). These data are sent to the Water Resources Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato, for entry into the Minnesota State Climatology database and for generation of contour precipitation maps. These data have been collected since 1992.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary	Faribault County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) monitors surface water quality. The SWCD has monitored sites since 1991.
