This survey of twenty-four Minnesota rivers, including the Minnesota, was conducted to determine physical characteristics and eligibility for inclusion in a state recreational river system. The study recommended that the Minnesota not be included in the system because the degree of development along its banks removed it from wilderness-river consideration and the nature of its flow meant that it is only intermittently canoeable. The report provides information on the Minnesota River under the topics of human history, natural setting and location, existing development, potential for future recreation, and considerations for recreational needs. A river map and photographs are included.
