This revised overall watershed-resource management plan for the Upper Minnesota Watershed District, encompassing the headwaters of the Minnesota River at Big Stone Lake, includes watershed information such as topography, soils, wetlands, wildlife, water quality, water use and classification, and floods. Demographic data cover economy, population, land use, transportation, utilities, drainage, and irrigation. Watershed management activities are described, including flood and erosion control and the restoration of Big Stone Lake. Proposed activities (e.g., efforts to manage urban stormwater, pesticides, and fertilizers) and watershed district objectives, policies, rules and regulations are also listed. Note: Volume II of this plan was not published or distributed. It consists of supplemental appendices covering such areas as soils, lakes, protected wetlands, and climate.
