[Goosetown is a neighborhood in New Ulm, Minnesota in the floodplain along the Minnesota River].
Video Text: "Goosetown got its name because of the geese that were down here as the German immigrants had their little farms and had their geese down by the river. It is a little piece of history that some of the people don’t think about. Everybody in town [New Ulm] knows where Goosetown is: they just go point down the river. You’re going to run into it. There are no special markers or anything other than the Goosetown [statue]. Gertie the Goose which was donated by Dr. Ann Vogel. She has a little story that she put together about Gertie the Goose so now this marks Goosetown. You’ll find that some of the houses down here have a goose sitting out on their front yard as part of their decorations, they get ceramic geese as part of their house decorations."
