Maple Syrup Tapping Demonstration

Saturday, March 12, 2016
1:00 PM

Tapping of maple and other trees for syrup has been going on for hundreds of years before the arrival of Europeans to North America.  Come out to Minneopa State Park on March 12th (Saturday) at 1 p.m. for a demonstration on tapping of maple trees.

Meet at the picnic shelter on the Waterfalls side of Minneopa State Park.  Staff from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will demonstrate what it takes to tap a tree, collect the sap and boil it to produce sweet syrup.  We will also talk about the history of tapping trees.

Wear clothing and shoes appropriate for outdoor hiking and weather conditions.
