Start off the New Year with a First Day Hike and a chance to view the winter landscape on January 1st at 10 a.m. The Minneopa Area naturalist will lead a guided hike from the Ground Campground down the Seppmann Mill Road to talk about the reintroduction of the bison to the park.
Established in 1905, Minneopa is the third oldest state park in Minnesota and features a scenic double waterfall as the creek drops almost 40 feet. In the fall of 2015 the Minnesota DNR plans to establish a bison herd at Minneopa State Park.
America’s State Parks First Day Hikes offer individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on January 1, 2015 at a state park. For more information, http://www.americasstateparks.org/first-day-hikes
