Jill Miller presents "Dakota 38" at Fort Ridgely

Saturday, September 20, 2014
1:00 p.m.

Fort Ridgely Historic Site will be hosting Tribal Spiritual Leader Jim Miller along with a viewing of the documentary “Dakota 38”. Jim Miller had the dream that started the ride. He and a group of riders retrace the 330 mile route from Lower Brule, South Dakota to Mankato, Minnesota to arrive at the hanging site on the anniversary of the largest execution in our Nation’s history. This is a story of their journey- the blizzards they endure, the Native and Non-Native communities that house and feed them along the way and the dark history they are healing from. Jim will be here to introduce this magnificent film and to answer questions afterward. Please join us on September 20th at 1:00 p.m. Admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors and students with I.D. and children ages 6-17. Children age 5 and under are free. MNHS and NCHS members are also free. A State Park sticker is required for all vehicles. Fort Ridgely Historic Site is located within the State Park, 7 miles south of Fairfax and 11 miles north of Sleepy Eye on Minnesota 4.
