What lives in the river; Mussels

Friday, May 31, 2013
7:30 p.m.

This is all about those other mussels, not the muscles in your arms!  At one time at least 40 freshwater and native mussels were found in the Minnesota River.  Mussels are considered to be the biological indicators of a river's health and increasingly being regarded as the aquatic "Canaries in the Coal Mine."  In this program we will learn about the mussel's amazing life history. Meet at the playground at the Day Use Area near the swimming pond and bring a camp chair and mosquito spray.
