Prairie Seed Collection

Come out to Minneopa State Park to help the Harry Meyering Center, park staff and other volunteers help collect native prairie seed and clean it.  The collected and clean seed will be used to help restore other areas in the park back to its original native prairie landscape. Please wear appropriate clothing for harvesting seed by hand in thick stands of grasses and wildflowers.  It is suggested you wear pants, long sleeve shirts and boots.

For planning purposes, volunteers must contact the Harry Meyering Center, Inc., at kshabrack@harrymeyeringcenter.org to be part of the event. Vehicles transporting participants to and from the prairie are eligible for a free daily state park permit, if preregistered. Other vehicles entering the park can purchase a permit at the office when they arrive.
