Prior to Euro-American settlement of southern Minnesota, the tall-grass prairie dominated the landscape throughout the Minnesota River Basin. By taking a hike through a restored prairie you will get a chance to learn about some of the plants and wildlife found in this ecosystem. To get the full flavor of the prairie, we will also talk about its benefits to the natural environment and how people over time have viewed and managed it as a resource. The hike is going to be held in conjunction with a picnic sponsored by Nicollet County Historical Society. Meet at the Fort Commissary building.
