Come out to Fort Ridgely State Park for a Historic Building Snowshoe Hike on February 21st (Saturday) at 2:00 p.m. Join the Scott Kudelka, Minneopa Area Naturalist to learn about snowshoeing and take a hike around the park to look at historic buildings.
We will take a snowshoe hike around Fort Ridgely State Park to check out its historic past. Fort Ridgely was the site of both a Civilian Conservation Corps and Veterans Conservation Corps camp in the 1930's during the Great Depression. They are responsible for some of the beautiful and unique buildings found at Fort Ridgely State Park including two picnic shelters, water tower/garage and Caretaker's Residence.
We will be out for around two hours walking up or down a couple of steeper hills covering about three miles. If there isn't enough snow, the event will become a hike. This program starts 2:00 p.m. at the Chalet (Golf Course Clubhouse) parking lot.
