CCC / WPA Historical Tour

Friday, August 9, 2013
7:30 p.m.

We will take a walking tour to learn how the impact of the 1930's Great Depression still resonates at Flandrau State Park.  To put people back to work President Roosevelt created programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) through his groundbreaking New Deal.  Young men formed into companies were put to work building structures found at Flandrau and many other Minnesota state parks.  Many of these features are still being used today by park visitors.  Meet at the playground at the Day Use Area near the swimming pond.
