Bison have been re-established at Minneopa State Park as part of the Minnesota Bison Conservation effort. We will take a hike around some of the bison range to see how these animals are adjusting to their home and hopefully see new calves.
Come out to Minneopa State Park at 9 a.m. on April 23rd (Saturday) to take a hike around part of the bison range. Please meet at the Group Campground on the campground side of Minnepa.
On this hike the Minneopa Area Naturalist will share some of the history of bison including how the number of these animals dropped from millions to around 540. We will also look at how the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is playing a role in the conservation of the largest mammal in North America.
Ther is no charge to attend this event, but vehicles are required to have a permit ($5 daily or $25 year-round) whichcan be purchased at the park.
