Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP): Biological and Toxicological Assessment - Characterization of Sediments, Settleable Solids and Water Quality of Stormwater Runoff in the Minnesota River Watershed

Minor watershed number(s):   30030, 30047, 30050, 30056, 31015, 31058, 32042, 32073

This study is performed on minor watersheds: 30030, 30047, 30050, 30056, 31015, 31058, 32042, 32073. Analysis of additional sites occurred along the main stem and tributaries of the Minnesota River.

The Biological and Toxicological Assessment component of the Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) includes studies which assist in defining existing conditions in the Minnesota River and it's tributaries. This sediment characterization study is completed as a part of the Biological and Toxicological Assessment component of the Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP). From 1989-1992, studies include sediments (23 sites), settleable solids (12 sites), clam tissues (11 sites) along the river's mainstem and tributaries, with the stormwater runoff analysis done on 8 select minor watershed sites within the basin. Surface water quality and quantity data (1991) from the Physical and Chemical Assessment component of the Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP) is also used in this study. Additional sampling was performed in 1992 to obtain a more complete data set.

Biological Monitoring

Data Summary MRAP Biological and Toxicological Assessment - Characterization of Sediments, Settleable Solids and Water Quality of Stormwater Runoff in the Minnesota River Watershed includes data from the the collection and analysis of various clam species. Tissue samples were collected and analyzed for heavy metal and PCB content.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary MRAP Biological and Toxicological Assessment - Characterization of Sediments, Settleable Solids and Water Quality of Stormwater Runoff in the Minnesota River Watershed includes surface water quality and quantity data (1991) from the Physical and Chemical Assessment component of the Minnesota River Assessment Project (MRAP). To obtain a more complete data set, collection of additional grab samples occurred in minor watersheds 32073 and 32042 during storm events in 1992.
