The project area is the Dutch Creek Watershed (minor watershed 30072) located in the Blue Earth River Major Watershed within Martin County.

Martin County Environmental Services received a Board of Water and Soil (BWSR) Challenge Grant in 1998 to study the Dutch Creek Watershed as a major contributor of sediment and nutrient loading to the Fairmont Chain of Lakes. A survey of the creek corridor was completed in 1998 and surface water monitoring is planned for the 1999 and 2000 sampling seasons.
