River Otter Ecology

Saturday, September 21, 2013
5:00 p.m.

This social mammal is known for its child-like personality and often appears to spend time playing.  After a significant decline due to hunting, trapping and loss of habitat, the otter population is beginning to make a comeback in the Minnesota River Basin.  We will learn about some of the special characteristics of a River Otter and what this animal tells us about the quality of our rivers, lakes and wetlands.  One lucky person will get the chance to dress like an otter!  Meet at the Creek Picnic Area.
