FISHERY REHABILITATION PROJECT

Project Overview
Beginning in December 2002, a coalition of local and state agencies worked together to stabilize 1,000 feet of eroding stream bank and rehabilitate trout fishing in Seven Mile Creek Park.

The main purpose of this project was to protect one of the bridges in the park by implementing techniques to slow bank erosion. As a bonus, the project helped to increase habitat for brown trout in the creek by creating deeper pools in which the fish can hide and spawn.

Partners in the project were the Brown Nicollet Cottonwood Water Quality Board, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and the Fisheries Section of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The project was funded by mitigation money received by Nicollet County from Alliance Pipeline, Inc.
