MINNESOTA RIVER BASIN DATA CENTER

Red Rock Lake - Lake Assessment Program

Minor watershed number(s):   26127

The project area was the Red Rock Lake lakeshed of minor watershed 26127 which is in the Chippewa River Major Watershed.

The Red Rock Lake project was completed through the MPCA - Lake Assessment Program (LAP) in 1989. A LAP report includes general information about a lake's trophic status, factors (such as land cover/land use or point source pollution potential) affecting nutrient input to the lake, fisheries health, water quality, historical trend analysis, and watershed assessment modeling.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary Red Rock Lake - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes in-lake surface water quality data collected five times from four sites during the spring and summer of 1990. Analysis includes nutrients (total phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen), color, solids, pH, conductivity, alkalinity, turbidity, chlorophyll, temperature, dissolved oxygen profile, and secchi disk readings.

Watershed Assessment

Data Summary Red Rock Lake - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes data from a watershed assessment which used two lake water quality models, MINLEAP and Reckow and Simpson. The models estimated water quality based on the morphometry and watershed characteristics of Red Rock Lake.
