Duck Lake Water Quality Improvement Project, Phase I - Diagnostic (CWP)

Minor watershed number(s):   28033

The project area is the Duck Lake subshed of minor watershed 28033 located in the Middle Minnesota River Major Watershed within Blue Earth County.

The Duck Lake Water Quality Improvement Project was a Phase I - Diagnostic, MPCA Clean Water Partnership Project funded in 1990 and completed in 1994. The project is sponsored by Blue Earth County and the following are contributing sponsors: Duck Lake Preservation Association, Duck Lake Implementation Steering Committee, Department of Natural Resources, and the Water Resources Center at Mankato State University. The purpose of this project is to characterize nutrient input to the lake as well as in-lake nutrient loading through continued monitoring by the Citizen Lake Monitoring Program, in-lake and storm event monitoring, macrophyte, sediment, and plankton nutrient biomass analysis, septic system study, and land cover/land use survey. .
