Overall Accelerated Implementation Project map
Area Location and Definition:

The project includes the watershed area for the Blue Earth, Watonwan, and Le Sueur Rivers that is located in the following counties: Blue Earth, Cottonwood, Jackson, Martin, Steele, Waseca, and Watonwan. Funded projects are to be located within the floodplain, a 1000 feet of surface water or an open tile intake, or be a local priority. See individual
project maps and photographs for additional area definition.

Project Description:

The Accelerated Implementation Project offers a cost share program, through local SWCD's, to landowners for the installation of conservation practices on their land. The objective of the project is for the reduction of sedimentation and nutrients in the Greater Blue Earth River system through accelerated implementation of the state cost share program. Each SWCD is responsible for a proper operation and maintenance plan for each project in their district. Spot checks of project sites will be done to ensure compliance during the ten years of the cost share contract. Below is a list of the individual projects submitted for allocation of the funds.
# Project
Description

Brief Description
1 Streambank Protection Watonwan $11,250 Bank stabilization along 300 feet of Butterfield Creek for a sediment reduction estimated at 140 T/Y.
2 Grade Stabilization
  Withdrawn
Watonwan $3,000 Construction of a side inlet structure, which will allow runoff to temporarily pond, will be installed in reponse to a gully formed at the end of a grassed waterway. Sediment reduction is estimated at 21 T/Y.
3 Terrace Blue Earth $9,000 Installation of terraces to stop the progression of 7 large draws eroding away due to gully erosion. Estimated sediment reduction to the river is 6,132 T/Y.
4 3 Sediment Basins Waseca $3,637 Construction of three sediment basins to control approximately 900 feet of gully erosion. The site is contributing an estimated 237 T/Y of sediment.
5 Waterway Waseca $9,825 Approximately 3200 feet of an old waterway will be replaced for an estimated sediment reduction of 333 T/Y.
6 Gully Stabilization Cottonwood $9,000 A stabilization pond with a tiled outlet will be constructed in response to the formation of a gully where water drops to the river. Sediment reductions are estimated at 55 T/Y.
