Agricultural Drain Tile Inlet Inventory & Best Management Practices Project map
Area Location and Definition:

The project area includes the watersheds of Sand Creek, Robert Creek, and Credit River in Scott County. All watersheds are within the Minnesota River Basin.

Project Description

The Agricultural Drain Tile Inlet Inventory involves a comprehensive inventory of all existing agricultural drain tile inlet structures. The inventory, mapped on a GIS template, is for the prioritization and recommendation of best management practices (BMPs) around drain tile intakes. Demonstrations of BMP implementation within identified high priority areas are also included in the project, developed to educate and promote public awareness and effective methods to address the problems of sediment and pollutant discharge. The resultant water quality benefits would include reduced soil loss, sediment and phosphorous loading, and flow rate reductions within the rural watersheds of Scott County and the adjacent Minnesota River.
