MRBDC Norway and Games Lakes - Lake Assessment Program

MINNESOTA RIVER BASIN DATA CENTER

Norway and Games Lakes - Lake Assessment Program

Minor watershed number(s):   26042

The project area was the Norway Lake lakeshed of minor watershed 26042, which includes Games Lake. Minor watershed 26042 is included in the Chippewa River Major Watershed.

The Norway and Games Lake project was completed through the MPCA - Lake Assessment Program (LAP) in 1994. A LAP report includes general information about a lake's trophic status, factors (such as land cover/land use or point source pollution potential) affecting nutrient input to the lake, fisheries health, water quality, historical trend analysis, and watershed assessment modeling.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary Norway and Games Lakes - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes in-lake surface water quality data collected five times from three sites during the spring and summer of 1994. Analysis includes nutrients (total phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen), color, solids, pH, conductivity, alkalinity, turbidity, chlorophyll, temperature, dissolved oxygen profile, and secchi disk readings.

Watershed Assessment

Data Summary Norway and Games Lakes - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes data from a watershed assessment which used two lake water quality models, MINLEAP and Reckow and Simpson. These models were used to estimate water quality based on the morphometry and watershed characteristics of Norway and Games Lakes.
