High Island Watershed Monitoring Site 5P

Major Findings for Sampleshed 5P

  • In the upper watershed, the landscape of 5P is characterized as gently rolling and intensively drained by ditch systems and tiling.  Here we find high levels of Nitrates (NO2+NO3-N) that continue to rise annually.
  • Fecal Coliform Bacteria levels exceed Minnesota’s health standard of 200 colony forming units per 100 milligrams of water throughout the watershed.
