MRBDC Eagle Lake - Lake Assessment Program

MINNESOTA RIVER BASIN DATA CENTER

Eagle Lake - Lake Assessment Program

Minor watershed number(s):   25002

The project area is the Eagle Lake lakeshed of minor watershed 25002 located within the Hawk Creek-Yellow Medicine River Major Watershed.

The Eagle Lake project was completed through the MPCA - Lake Assessment Program (LAP) in 1994. A LAP report includes general information about a lake's trophic status, factors (such as land cover/land use or point source pollution potential) affecting nutrient input to the lake, fisheries health, water quality, historical trend analysis, and watershed assessment modeling.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary Eagle Lake - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes surface water quality data collected five times from two in-lake sites during the spring and summer of 1994. Sample analysis includes nutrients (total phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen), color, solids, pH, conductivity, alkalinity, turbidity, chlorophyll, temperature, dissolved oxygen profile, and secchi disk readings.

Watershed Assessment

Data Summary Eagle Lake - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes data from a watershed assessment which uses the Minnesota Lake Eutrophication Analysis Procedure (MINLEAP) model to assess changes in the quality of the lake resulting from altered nutrient inputs or altered flow. The model incorporates water quality, point source pollution potential, land cover/land use, and inflow and outflow data in its assessment.
