Best Management Practices (BMP) Focus Projects

Data Summary Shakopee Creek Headwaters Project includes data from the Conservation Credit Initiative (CCI) program offered by Kandiyohi County in the project area. The CCI program provides tax credits to landowners implementing certain conservation practices on their land. The Kandiyohi County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), Kandiyohi County Lakes Association and Department of Natural Resources (DNR) have also developed a program to offer cost share funds for planting trees and shrubs within 50 ft of the lakes in the project area.

Surface Water Quality Monitoring

Data Summary No surface water quality monitoring data available or inventoried for this minor watershed. Norway and Games Lakes - Lake Assessment Project (LAP) includes in-lake surface water quality data collected five times from three sites during the spring and summer of 1994. Analysis includes nutrients (total phosphorus, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, nitrate/nitrite-nitrogen), color, solids, pH, conductivity, alkalinity, turbidity, chlorophyll, temperature, dissolved oxygen profile, and secchi disk readings.Shakopee Creek Headwaters Project includes surface water quality data collected from15 sampling sites during 5 storm events and 11 sites during storm event and baseline flow. Water quality has been monitored at the 26 sites throughout the project area since 1996. Samples are analyzed for nutrients, bacteria, and sediment content.
