Fall Bike Ride

Saturday, October 4, 2014
10 a.m.

Go for a Fall Colors bike ride on the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail, Saturday, October 4th at 10 a.m.  We will be riding from Sakatah Lake State Park to Morristown and back for an 8-mile round trip.

We will meet at the boat access ramp along the lakeshore at Sakatah Lake State Park.  Please bring along water and appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

On the route we will stop a number of times to take in the scenery and talk about the magic of leaves and why they are so different from each other among other topics.  This will be a leisurely bike ride that should last around two hours.

The Sakatah Singings Hills State Trail is a 39-mile multiple use trail which has been developed on an abandoned railroad grade.  The trail lies in the transition zone between what was once the “Big Woods” and the vast prairies.  Remnants of these plant communities can still be found scattered throughout what is now cultivated land.

To reserve a spot on the bike ride please contact the Minneopa Area Naturalist by calling 507-384-8890 or sending an email to scott.kudelka@state.mn.us.
